Back in action, ready again ... sort of

Windows XP works like a charm, thank you very much. Well, with one exception: some link on Fark sent me to a site that pop-up bombed me and managed to edit my registry files. Once I got those cleaned up, though, all appears to be smooth sailing.

Anyways, not much to report. I was going to get back in the blogging saddle over the weekend, but the paper I was working on took a couple extra days, then I had to do my taxes (always an ordeal with me), then I caught up on my Atlantic Monthly (my new favorite mag) reading on the way to Corpus, and then I caught a cold Friday. No worries. The illness gave me an excuse to watch the entire Chappelle's Show marathon while I sat on the couch all Saturday night. Oh, and also saw the Kings whoop the Lakers. Schaedenfreude (or however you spell that), baby, Schaedenfreude! (Go Spurs Go!)

All right, with nothing else to say, I'll post some pictures. Hopefully a semi-clear schedule will unleash the floodgates of profundity this week. But don't count on it.

Took this one on the way to Corpus. I actually tried to frame it up differently while we were at the light, but then my dad started driving again, so the awkward way this composition works was a pleasant surprise.

Construction + rain = a bunch of mud by the Red House.

Finally, this one's pretty sweet. I took a whole bunch of pictures of raindrops on our car's window as we drove back into S.A. This one came out the best, but only after inverting it and tweaking the contrast and sharpness. What you're seeing is actually an optical illusion, since I was on the opposite side of the window from the rain drops — kind of like when a bug is crawling on your windshield and it looks like it's inside the car.

Slick, huh?
