I hate the word "maven"

Talk about an early birthday present. Just two days before I creep ever closer to my mid-twenties, William Safire will make his final appearance as Times columnist on January 24th.

I don't meticulously follow the opinion pages anymore, but that man was a consistent irritant back in my Texan editorial days. I'll sleep better knowing the world is free of his name-dropping snark. Now if only he'd drag Dowd out with him.

Hmm, weren't there some other resignations today, too? Ah, who has time — I need to check on my fantasy basketball team.

In other news, I know this blog sucks lately. I'll try to remedy that this week. Unless the Spurs are on.
