New year, new worries

I realized yesterday that my friend Malati was in India when the tsunami hit. At least, I'm pretty sure. Her family was going to visit family there, I think. I have no idea what part of the country she was going to or if she'd even arrived before the disaster struck. But her voicemail says she'll be in India until sometime in January and she hasn't responded to an e-mail I sent yesterday.

There's nothing I can do, so I'm trying to keep myself distracted from worrying about it. Ugh, come home safe, Malati.

I'll be in Austin tonight, so if you're free, give me a call. Still don't know what I'm doing for New Year's, but I don't have much money so I'm trying to avoid downtown if I'm in Austin.
