Yea — validation!

I made the Flickr blog — woo! Caterina — self-described "friend of small dogs, full-time Flickrr, art fiend, book freak," who has great taste in literature, according to her profile (Invisible Cities, YES) — is the resident Flickr scourer for the blog. She included my Wal-Mart Distribution Center picture in a grouping of her recent favorites. What she wrote is also pretty cool, and I concur:
In a comment on one of his photos, Eric Snowdeal paraphrases a bit from David Weinberger's essay The Hyperlinked Metaphysics of the Web:
In our culture, we're suspicious of strangers. They're a threat. They lurk in shadows. On the Web, however, strangers are the source of everything worthwhile. Strangers and their utterances [and photographs] are the stuff of the Web.
I was thinking of this today, as I was looking through my favorites. I look at them almost every time I visit Flickr, and I never get tired of them. And it occurred to me -- all but three of the photos are from people that I've never met.
It occurred to me the other day that I think I'd really like to work for Flickr. Seems like it's staffed by interesting, enthusiastic people in a cool town (Vancouver). In fact, just yesterday I had happened to e-mail Caterina asking if there were any jobs available. I'm guessing the chances are very slim since I'm not a programmer, but it's worth a shot, I suppose.

And speaking of jobs and validation, everyone send Lilly Rockwell a big congrats: she'll be making them ends next spring in sunny Florida at the Florida Times-Union! Woo! Spring break!!!

Wow, I'm going to be exhausted tomorrow.
