Weird news, but good news

This is pretty strange: in the span of three days I have been contacted by two completely unrelated strangers who want to buy the rights to reprint a couple of my photos. One guy want to publish the Wal-Mart distribution center photo that appeared in the Globe for use in a book on Wal-Mart's labor practices, written by a professor at UC Santa Barbara. Then, this evening, a fellow Flickr user sent me a message asking if they could use these pumpkins (friends only right now) as poster in their organic food store — in the Netherlands.

Why this week? I have no idea. But I'll take it. Now, after a couple hours of labor rescanning that pumpkin picture — film is no fun — it's time for a crash course in licensing arrangements and freelance compensation. Anyone got any tips?
