And then there were three

In lieu of anything substantial to post, and with the move and time away from the Internets coming up, I thought I'd pose this question, which I asked Reid in an e-mail, to my friends who follow the NBA:

So Fin finallly went?

Sad to see, huh? What's your feeling on the Mavs of next year? It's been a pretty whacky two years since Ginobili sabotaged your Finals aspirations with his well-placed hip check — an old Argentinian specialty.

Also, check out this line from the end of the waiver wrap up: "Other teams that used the provision included the Wolves (Fred Hoiberg)..."

With all the teams looking for a bomber, are you telling me there's no place for Hoiberg out there? I've never understood why teams don't utilize these Steve-Kerr types more. Hoiberg shot nearly 49 percent from 3 last year, over 87 percent from the line, and led the league with a 0.3 turnovers a game (to go against 1.1 assists — nearly 4 to 1 ratio). Anyways, were I the Spurs, and were I unable to land Finley, I'd be on the phone with Hoiberg's agent.

Now, as it turns out, Hoiberg just had open-heart surgery, so, you know, his career may be over. But I've still never understood why guys like him and Kerr seem to go underutilized on the bench. Is it their defense?

Anyways, a Hoiberg recover and signing with the spurs would also raise the possibility of the first all white floor squad in decades: I could see a garbage-time team of Beno, Hoiberg, Ginobili, Rasho, and that Argentine they brough over ... or a big white stiff to be named later (Marks!). Hopefully it will be against the Blazers. I'd pay to see that.
