Building blocks
I just read a book — Looking at Pictures, if I recall — that samples prints from the Museum of Modern Art's collection, pre-1975 or so. Drawing from many different styles, the pictures all happen to be black and white. The book was a lesson in composition and tonal range, and it made me realize that I need to get back to shooting in monochrome for a bit, to sharpen and refine the old skills.
This picture represents the first photo I've edited with this focus in mind. We'll see how it translates into pictures I'm shooting.
